And so..... thinking that my half my bulbs are faulty or worse rotted due to my excessive love, I finally gave up after 2 weeks and decided to dig them up and redistribute my 4 little offspring so they have more space. Surely if they were meant to sprout, they would have sprouted.
With a heavy heart I start digging the first bulb out. To my very surprise, I saw little roots growing from the butt. OH HO...there is hope after all. So I carefully replanted the bulb and dug another one out. YES, little roots as well and it goes on and on until all bulbs were checked and replanted. Within a week, the remaining ones grew shoots as well!
Yes, Paul, when you want something badly, the universe will conspire to give it to you! 2 of my bulbs even have twin shoots.
After 2 months, you can see some shoots are obviously doing better than others which is very perplexing as I water and fertilized them evenly. I also started worrying about things like pest, insects, parasites that could possibly kill my babies but I never thought the biggest threat is right in front of me - Churro (insert Jaws theme song ~ denden denden...). He started paying avid attention to my babies which can't be good.
Despite my best efforts, they are just too tempting to Churro at 3 months old. Aunty caught him trying to hop onto the pot and nibble my shoots. It's time to move my babies to higher ground which is the current location they now preside - on the window sill.
Now they are into their 4th month of growth, the younger ones starting to catch up and all looked pretty even. I can't tell you how many pictures I've taken of my Tulips and I totally understand new mothers and their everlasting quest to capture all possible angles of their newborn at every opportunity. The only difference between them and me? I don't flood facebook with pictures of my babies..hahaha! Not now anyway. They are shy...like their mom..(cough~ cough)
